Be The Author Of Your Future
Lesson 1: The Smartphone & The Pattern Library
Most people think their mind is a dark, mysterious vault they have zero control over. They think their moods, reactions, and failures just “happen” to them. That single misunderstanding costs people their entire lives.
Here is the truth: Your brain is a high-powered smartphone, and 95% of what you do every day is just apps running in the background.
-
What is the Pattern Library? Everything you’ve ever experienced, believed, been told, or repeatedly thought gets saved. It’s an automated record. By the time you’re 7 years old, most of your default software is already installed—and you didn’t even choose it.
-
The Glitch: The version of you that shows up in school, sports, friendships, and stress is usually being run by old, outdated code.
-
The Shift: Your mind is not a locked room; it’s an operating system. Systems respond to new input. You are not the passenger riding in the back seat—you are the programmer holding the terminal.
Debate Questions for Us to Touch On:
-
What is one automatic reaction you have (getting mad, shutting down, doubting yourself) that feels like an “old app” running without your permission?
-
If 95% of our day is automated, how much of your current daily routine did you consciously choose, and how much did you just inherit?
Lesson 2: The Two Master Rules
Before you start writing new code, you have to understand the two core rules of the hardware you’re operating.
Rule 1: The Brain Believes 100% of What You Tell It
Your brain has no sarcasm filter for your internal voice. It cannot tell the difference between a joke, a fear, or a fact.
-
If you tell yourself, “I always screw this up,” your brain accepts it as a direct command, logs it into the pattern library, and actively searches for proof to make you right.
-
If you feed it strength, direction, and conviction, it indexes that as reality and alters your behavior to match.
Rule 2: Love Yourself First (The Battery Power)
You cannot send a text if your phone is at 0% battery.
-
If your baseline relies on other people praising you or accepting you, you are constantly running on low battery, searching for an outlet. That creates anxiety and defensiveness.
-
Loving yourself first isn’t selfish; it’s charging your system to 100%. When your tank is full:
-
You finally have real energy, support, and patience to give away.
-
You lower your defensive walls and become open to receiving real love, because you finally believe you deserve it.
-
Debate Questions for Us to Touch On:
-
What is a specific phrase or thought you repeat to yourself that your brain might be taking as a “100% order”?
-
Why is it so hard to accept real support or love from other people when your own internal battery is drained?
Lesson 3: The 3-Step System (Baseline, Reprioritize, Discard)
Now that you know the rules, here is how you execute the update.
-
Build the Baseline (Set Your Admin Password): You decide your core rules. How do you treat yourself? What will you refuse to tolerate from your own self-talk? If you don’t set your own baseline, the world will set a weak one for you.
-
Reprioritize (Pin the Main Apps to Your Home Screen): Your brain defaults to whatever is easiest or most familiar (scrolling, getting defensive, avoiding friction). Reprioritizing means picking what actually matters—goals, focus, self-respect—and forcing your brain to process those first.
-
Discard (Delete the Trash): You cannot install upgraded software on a hard drive that is 100% full of garbage files. You have to actively throw away old self-doubt, cheap distractions, and habits (or crowds) that pull you back into legacy code.
Debate Questions for Us to Touch On:
-
What is one habit, thought pattern, or environment that belongs in your “Discard Pile” starting today?
-
What does your personal “Baseline” look like when you are running at your absolute best?
Lesson 4: Writing New Code & Teaching the System
Updating the system isn’t a one-time event; it’s daily reprogramming. You write new code through three specific levers:
-
Contradictory Experience: Every time you face a fear and survive it, you prove the old pattern wrong.
-
Emotional Conviction: Every time you state a new belief with real feeling, you overwrite old script.
-
Environment Design: Every time you place yourself around better influences, you feed your subconscious brand-new evidence.
